One of the best culinary spots of the summer is Strandgut Rossatzbach.
You can reach it by bicycle, car, or by traditional wooden ferry (Zille) from Dürnstein. Close your eyes, open them again—no, you’re not in Italy by the sea, but it certainly feels that way.
With its relaxed camping atmosphere, young and friendly staff, and stunning views across the Danube to Dürnstein, it’s the perfect place to unwind on a summer’s day.

HEURIGER – A Truly Austrian Tradition
In Austria—especially in Lower Austria and Vienna—people often say they’re „going to the Heuriger“ for a glass of wine.
Interestingly, the word Heuriger has two meanings.
Firstly, it refers to the young wine of the current vintage. Secondly, it describes a traditional Austrian wine tavern (Buschenschank), where local winemakers serve their own wines together with simple regional dishes.
Authentic Heurige traditionally serve only cold food. These rustic taverns are characterised by wooden tables and benches, a relaxed atmosphere, and a bunch of pine branches (Buschen) displayed above the entrance. This traditional decoration signals that the Heuriger is currently open.
Visiting a Heuriger is one of the most authentic ways to experience Austrian wine culture and hospitality.
